Master Continuity

Basic production bible for Odyssey. Sequence packages, hero plates, and prompt seeds inherit these locks unless an override is logged below.

How to use this bible

  1. 01

Read master locks before writing beats or prompts.

  2. 02

Apply package-local notes (e.g. Cyclops scale/eye) on top.

  3. 03

Any intentional break goes in the Override Log — never silent.

Always

  • Keep Odysseus mid-life, scarred, calculating
  • Lock scale when giants or gods appear
  • Use xenia as story fuel, not decoration
  • Inherit master palette in every prompt seed
  • Log package-local notes on the package page

Never

  • Boy-hero or frail-elder Odysseus
  • Modern clothes, weapons, or architecture
  • Cartoon ogre Cyclops, skyscraper titan, or two-eyed slips — use locked 2.5–3× human-proportioned one-eyed design only
  • Gore catalog instead of mythic horror
  • Silent overrides — always write them down

01

World Rules

Gods intervene but do not erase consequence. Hospitality (xenia) is sacred and its violation is narrative fuel. Journey time is elastic; emotional continuity matters more than calendar pedantry.

  • Bronze-age Mediterranean world — no modern props, fonts, or architecture unless a package marks a deliberate break.
  • Gods may guide, disguise, or punish; mortals still choose and pay.
  • Xenia (guest-right) is a moral engine: honor it, break it, or weaponize it — always legible on screen.
  • Geography can compress; character and visual continuity cannot.
02

Odysseus — Visual Continuity

Consistent scar above the knee (boar hunt). Weathered bronze-age kit with layered travel damage. Eyes always calculating. Age: mid-forties equivalent; not a boy-hero, not frail.

  • Mid-life war-worn king: intelligent, exhausted, dangerous when smiling.
  • Scar above the knee — show when legs are visible; never invent new face scars without logging.
  • Travel-stained bronze kit; dust and salt; royal bearing under grime.
  • Eyes calculate in every package — hubris is a choice he makes with open eyes (see Cyclops true-name beat).
03

Core Cast Locks

Hero plates for the company must remain recognizable across packages. Local costume dirt and injury are allowed; bone structure, signature marks, and age band stay locked.

  • Penelope: composed strength, loom/palace context, veiled authority — not a passive ornament.
  • Telemachus: youth becoming steel; mirrors the father without becoming him yet.
  • Athena: grey-eyed clarity; mortal guise + full epiphany variants must feel like the same mind.
  • Polyphemus (Cyclops package): final lock — single central forehead eye only, ~2.5–3× human height, heavy muscular human proportions (not cartoon ogre), consistent face/skin/hair across all plates; never resize for convenience.
04

Master Palette

Wine-dark sea, olive dust, bronze, ash, blood-iron, and cold divine silver (Athena). Avoid modern anachronistic fabrics and architecture unless a sequence package explicitly marks a stylized break.

  • Sea: wine-dark / deep indigo — never tropical postcard blue.
  • Land: olive, dust, limestone, ash after Troy.
  • Metal: aged bronze and iron; divine accents in cold silver.
  • Blood-iron sparingly — mythic weight, not splatter catalog.
  • No neon, chrome, plastic, or contemporary textiles.
05

Tone & Violence

Epic, mythic, grounded. Horror in the Cyclops and Underworld packages is tactile, not gore-porn. Ithaca revenge is cathartic but heavy — victory has a body count.

  • Prefer silhouette, sound, reaction faces, and extinguished light over gore detail.
  • Scale and texture carry terror (giant hands, wool, fog, shades) more than blood volume.
  • Humor is dry and human — never sitcom; never undercut mythic stakes for a bit.
  • Every kill and every mercy should feel costly.
06

Camera & Craft (Basic)

Grounded epic film language: anamorphic stills and sequence frames, natural light plus fire, human scale always readable against world and monsters.

  • Establish scale in every monster or god frame (man, ship, flock, architecture as rulers).
  • Firelight and daylight as primary keys in caves and halls; avoid modern LED look.
  • Wide for geography and fate; tight for calculation and recognition.
  • Generation prompts inherit these craft notes unless a package overrides.
07

Sequence Package Protocol

Each package owns beats, key plates, continuity notes, and prompt seeds. Locked packages freeze plate IDs and hero looks. New packages inherit the master bible; local overrides must be logged here.

  • Inherit this bible first — then apply package-local notes (e.g. Cyclops scale lock).
  • Plate IDs are stable; rename only with a continuity log entry.
  • When a package is Locked, hero looks and plate IDs freeze for generation.
  • Overrides (intentional breaks) are written into this document under Override Log.
08

Override Log

Empty and ready for future video iteration notes. Record any intentional break from master locks here so Generate and later packages do not silently diverge.
